Stolen Rewards Certificates

On June 14th someone somehow got into my account and placed an order for 2 Sony giftcards and used my $110 in rewards certificates. I caught the order shortly after it was made but the cards were already shipped and I was told they couldn't stop the order. At that time I changed both the email address and password for my account and then again on June 21st the same person attempted THREE times to make orders using the $10 I had left. I was actually able to catch the fist order and cancel it before it went through, so the following two were automatically declined. All of these orders came from the same person in Ohio shipping to an address that was not on my account anywhere and to a name not associated with me at all. I reported the $110 in stolen certificates immediately. It is now July 11th and I do not have them back. 

 

I am an eliteplus member. I spend A LOT of money at Best Buy. The fact that I still haven't gotten the rewards back is completely unacceptable. Every time I have contacted Best Buy about this I get the run around of "we are looking into it here is a reference number". Nothing has been done, I have been given no information, and most importantly I have not been given back the money that was stolen.

 

Please, someone, help. I have shopped at Best Buy for years and been a loyal customer but honestly this is making me seriously consider not shopping with Best Buy anymore.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for reaching out to us! It's incredibly discouraging to hear someone may have accessed your account to redeem some reward certificates without your permission.

 

We do our best to ensure the security of our customer's information, and want to ensure such situations are addressed in a timely manner. To hear you've still been waiting on a resolution almost a month later is disheartening and I apologize for any additional frustration you may have endured. While I'm glad to hear you've changed your BestBuy.com password, I would also encourage you to change your email account's password, in case your email account was the original one compromised.

As for your reward certificate, please know that I am sending you a private message to gather some additional information. You may check your private messages by signing into the forum then clicking the envelope icon in the top right corner of the page.
