Rewards Points Question

I was hoping to get a little clarification about the My Best Buy points system. At its baseline, the Rewards membership gives you about 2% back ($10 for $500 spent). With Elite Plus, you get about 2.5% ($12.50 for $500 spent). The Visa card states that you get 5% back or 6% if Elite Plus. My question is: If you are both an Elite Plus and a My BB Rewards member (have to be both right?) you get 6% and not 8.5% (6% + 2.5%), correct? Also, if I purchase an item for $500, but use $300 in gift cards, do I only get points/Visa reward points on the $200 put on the card or do I get the full 6% (I'm assuming) on the whole $500? If I bought gift cards with the rewards card from Best Buy I would assume I get points for doing so. If I then used those cards to buy stuff, would you not still get points on your entire purchase effectively allowing you to sort of double dip on points?

Thanks in advance for the answers, I was a little confused on the poilicies.

Re: Rewards Points Question

Hello averhoeven -

Elite and Elite Plus members earn points at a higher rate (1 point for every $1 and 1.25 points for every $1, respectively), but this is typically factored into the total percentage earned back when you use a My Best Buy credit card. As for the gift cards, you would earn points for purchasing gift cards, but not for redeeming gift cards. Any portion of a purchase paid for by gift card or reward certificates would not be eligible for points.
