Hello! I am a few hundred short of elite status for 2017. I just recently made a large purchase that would qualify me for "elite plus". I understand it can take up to 20 days for my new status to take effect. My question is, will my recent purchase that put me over the top to qualify receive the benefits of my new status? I.e. will my purchase have the extended return window instead of the standard one? Or do I have to wait for my status to change and the return extension will only apply to additional purchases after this one?

Welcome to the Best Buy forums. I'd be more than happy to assist you with your concern today. When it comes down to our Elite and Elite Plus statuses on our My Best Buy program, the benefits you qualify for relate solely on the status of your account at the time of purchase. This means that a purchase made while in Basic or Elite status would only qualify for it's respective benefits. While a purchase may bring you up to a certain tier once processed, those benefits do not kick in until the status is officially updated on our end.
For your most recent purchase, the return policy would be that of an Elite member which, for the holiday season, is good until January 29, 2018. Any future purchases, should you reach Elite Plus, will have its respective return policy, which is usually 45 days.
