Re: Unsafe installation

I received the COI and am waiting on the building to confirm it is acceptable.

Concerning the damage check, visually inspecting the machine doesn't seem like it will uncover damage.  I'm not concerned with cosmetics, I want to make sure the internal mechanics are not damaged (e.g. an arm holding the drum was not slightly bent when the workman stood on top of the dryer which may cause the arm to break in a year).

Re: Unsafe installation

Hey bb175,

Glad to hear you got the COI. The delivery/Install team being sent out would not be qualified to determine if the internal mechanics of your machines were damaged as they are not repair technicians. In addition a repair technician could not be sent out unless you are stating the machines aren't working correctly. In addition if a year from now the unit stops working correctly it would be impossible for an insurance adjuster to determine if the damage was caused by this delivery/install team or by someone else given that time that would have passed by then. Are the units functioning correctly? If not, what is specifically wrong with the units?

Thanks,

Re: Unsafe installation

Given the unsafe nature of the set up caused by the last installation team -- the picture I sent you shows the stacking kit is not connected to the dryer and that the dryer is currently sitting on top of the washing machine -- i'm sure you are not advocating that I run the machines risking the safety of my family, potential damage to the property, and additional damage to the machines.  Running the machines without the stacking kit being properly installed is a huge safety risk.

Is standing on top of a dryer while trying to lift a washing machine part of the standard operating procedure to install a washer and dryer?  If not, then isn't the burden on Bestbuy to ensure there was no damage caused by the unauthorized actions of its workmen?

Please confirm that (1) the installation team coming tomorrow is a different team than the one that failed to properly install the stacking kit two weeks ago, and (2) the installation team will have the necessary parts to properly install the stacking kit.

Re: Unsafe installation

Allan,

Bestbuy's handling of this situation has been completely unacceptable.

The installation team (arrived 2 hours after the promised 8-noon window) and:

1) confirmed the stacking kit was not installed -- the team easily moved the dryer side-to-side and back-and-forth;

2) cautioned that the machines were unsafe not only to use but especially since we have two little kids at home;

3) confirmed that the installation team was not provided even a basic description of my complaint, the picture I sent to Bestbuy showing there were no screws securing the dryer to the stacking it, and that the installation team was not given any materials in order to remedy the problem (i.e. there was nothing they could do);

4) the installation team also told me that the stacking kit should be one that goes in the front and that Bestbuy either told me to purchase the wrong kit or gave the last team the wrong kit to install.

I've now had to take a day off work and no progress has been made in fixing the very unsafe situation in my home. Bestbuy has demonstrated it's complete indifference towards safety, lack of integrity, and utter disregard for its customer's time.

How will Bestbuy fix the unsafe conditions in my home caused by its installation team?

Re: Unsafe installation

Hey bb175,

I am sorry this team did not have the correct stacking kit, and that they confirmed the unit was not stacked correctly by the past team. I have emailed the delivery/install management for your area asking them to get a team out to your home as soon as possible, with the correct stacking kit, to get these units stacked correctly. Once I hear back from them I will post back to this thread.

Thanks,

Re: Unsafe installation

Hey bb175,

I did hear back on this and we should be calling you to schedule a time to come back out to stack these units correctly with a new stacking kit. Did you speak to anyone about getting this rescheduled?

Thanks,
