Technician refused to serve me. (Maybe cause Im Hispanic?)

[ Edited ]

On febuary 6th I reserved and made an appointment to get a remote car starter for my vehicle and was told the soonest available date for installation would be on feb 27th at 10am. They took all my information down, all of the vehicles information and all of the parts I needed in order to complete the job on that day.

I get there on time, the tech is there, says all the pieces are in the store and ready to go. However, after the technician (Chris. M) noticed that he would be working on my car alone, he decided he couldnt do the job because it would take too long and just flat out refused even though all the parts were there, I had the time and money, plus I took a day off work in order to get this done. I demanded a manager and (Sofyia) basically told me the same thing. She said sorry but we just dont have the time to work on your vehicle today.

So I almost waited a month to get this job done, provided them with all necesary information about the car, THEY HAD THE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT TO COMPLETE THE JOB, but they decided that it would be too much work so they refused to serve a paying custumer.

I cant make this stuff up, people.

Location of issue was at the 33 ORCHARD HILL PARK DR LEOMINSTER MA and my

I'm confused based on your post what race has anything to do with it. Personally it just sounds the job may have been too big for one person to do and they would need another tech. Which I do agree it sucks you waited all that time. It would probably be best to work with a manager to come up with a solution.

If they didnt know beforehand what the job would entail, then I;d agree with you. However, they KNEW what the car needed and what it would take to do the job 21 days before I arrived there at 10am when their doors opened. They had the equipment, the had a tech who knew what he had to do and a paying custumer who patiently waited for this appointment.

If you cant do the job or are not sure, dont make the appointment and have me waste a day just because you feel ts too much work on the same day I arrive. Be prepared, the same way I was.

This is best buiy , not a mom and pop shop. This is why Amazon and other online stored are killing you guys.

If it wasnt bcause of race, then what was it? Lazyness?

I still dont have a legit reason why they denied servicing my vehicle.

It very well could be laziness or maybe they were short staffed that day or maybe it would take too long that you would be without your car for the whole day into the next because they only had 1 tech.

Re: Technician refused to serve me. (Maybe cause Im Hispanic?)

Well maybe they shouldnt make appointments, promise service, and then change their mind on the same day if they never know when they can actually perfom a job or not.

I get paid overtime after 45 hours, meaning I missed a day of work and overtime to be at this appointment because they  told me that a month from now, they would have enough time for me. If the guy can do the job, they have all the tools and parts necessary and have a paying custumer first in line; their first duty is to do their job.

They had plenty of time to make sure they were able to get this done.

I dont believe for a second they are lazy at 10am in the morning and me being their first custumer. They saw me and flat out refused because of who I was.

Re: Technician refused to serve me. (Maybe cause Im Hispanic?)

Best Buy probably had three techs scheduled to work that day. Now if two call in sick, is that because of who you are? You said the tech told you that he was alone and the job needs two techs. They didn't have two techs. Plain and simple logic. Of course you probably won't accept my explanation because I'm disabled.

Before posting I try to research everything first or use my own experiences. I do not now nor have I ever worked for Best Buy. After a year and a half hiatus, I'm back working for the competition.
If you respond to a post of mine, I will read it. I may or may not post in the thread again, but rest assured I will read your response Smiley Happy

Re: Technician refused to serve me. (Maybe cause Im Hispanic?)

So now you're ASSUMING 2 out of the 3 techs suddenly got sick on the same day (Maybe they sleep together, right? of course! I'm not judging) and you're also choosing to believe the one tech could not have done the job by himself. Newsflash, YES you can do this job by yourself. I've called other places, each one telling me the job can be done by one person. The only difference is, it takes more time which is something at that 10am in the morning, and 21 days to plan they had plenty of.

Plain and simple logic!

I will not accept your explanation, not because you are disabled since I don't discriminate, but because it is more garbage coming from a person who wasn't there in the first place.

If you want to act like this is not based on race and hang your hat on horrendous customer service, then by all means, make it the new Best Buy slogan!

Re: Technician refused to serve me. (Maybe cause Im Hispanic?)

Hey JT7,

I’ve had a car starter in my vehicle for roughly 5 years now and it’s easily one of the best purchases I have ever made. It’s really exciting to hear that you were looking to have one installed, but I’m discouraged to read that the appointment may have fallen through. I understand your frustration as you patiently awaited the appointment and have yet to be provided an acceptable reason for the trouble.

Thank you for providing me with the store location that you have been working with. I’ve ensured that this case has been properly documented here at our Corporate Office. In addition, I want to make sure the management team at this location is completely aware of your experience. Have you had the opportunity to speak with them? If so, were they able to assist you with any resolution? If not, I would be happy to reach out on your behalf and put you in contact. If you would like for me to do so, I will ask that you send me a private message with your preferred contact information. You can send a message by clicking on the link in my signature below.

I am grateful that you have reached out to us so that we can further improve our services and store experiences.

Sincerely,

The manager on the floor (Sofyia)who I spoke to the day it happened was the one who reiterated what the tech told me himself. No resolution was found other than waiting another month for another appointment.

I will send you my information now.

Re: Technician refused to serve me. (Maybe cause Im Hispanic?)

To give an update, after a week of posting this thread, Emily-bb responded and called the store were the situation occured. Yesterday I received a call from them and they offered to gve me a $100 dollar credit towards the job.

Now, I know 100 seems like a lot of money but to put everything in to prespective, let me detail how much money I actually lost and will have to pay because of Best Buys lack of professionalism and horrible service just to get the job done. I make overtime at my job after 45 hours, meaning, if i miss a day of work I get no overtime, meaing:

-I will lose $400 dollars worth of OT for missing work 2 times in seperate weeks.

-I will also have to shell out another 450 to 500 bucks for parts and installation.

Thats thats $850 to simply get a car started with door actuators properly installed in my vehicle just because they didnt care to be prepared the first time and make sure they were ble to service my vehicle when THEY told me they would be able to a month after I made the reservation.

Am I satisfied? Nope. Should anyone in my position really be happy with this? I highly doubt it. im choosing to believe I wasnt serviced because of race even though still to this date I was given no real reason as to why they refused to serve me in the first place.
