Questions about TV Delivery and Preorder

[ Edited ]

No complaints, I'm just really hoping for someone with first-hand knowledge on how TV preorders and deliveries work can help answer.

1) If I want to pre-order a TV and get it at the earliest delivery date possible, should I preorder at my local store or online?

Context: I've heard that you use different warehouses/delivery schedules for in-store and online TV orders. Also, sometimes people who preorder in store wind up with an early "For Display" Model that the store sells them, so they get it earlier than regular online preorders.

2) Does the delivery team really open the box of the TV and inspect it for damage before they deliver it to your home? Can I request they NOT do this in the order notes? Please watch this YouTube video for the reason why I'm asking this question:

Thank you in advance!

Re: Questions about TV Delivery and Preorder

Greetings 777,

I’d be happy to answer any questions may have regarding televisions! I know how exciting shopping for a new TV can be and we’re here to make the entire process as easy as possible.

We don’t currently offer the option to pre-order any TV’s. They can be ordered/scheduled on our website or in store. We also don’t sell anything that may come from a stores shelves as new. They are marked as a floor model and priced accordingly.

While you can absolutely request that your TV not be taken out of the box during delivery it’s highly recommended, as it’s our way of making sure there was no damage during the transit process from the manufacturer to your home.

If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to respond!

Sincerely,

TV Preorder Delivery Date Issue

I pre-ordered a TV yesterday early morning and as I was going through the checkout I had checked Monday 4/17 as the delivery date on the calendar. After I submitted the order and checked the details, it then said for delivery in "5-6" weeks and no longer had the April date I selected. I have called twice and spoke with two GeekSquad reps. One rep said he had me showing for a 4/23 delivery date, but the other said the TV was backordered.

I now have the option to schedule for a May delivery when I view the order. I was told by a chat rep to not schedule for May delivery now, that a case was made for me, "my voice was being heard," and and that someone would call me to help sort it out and priortize me but that hasn't happened.

I don't want to be locked into a May date; I just want the original April 17th date I had selected.

Can someone please help me out here?

Re: TV Preorder Delivery Date Issue

Greetings 777,

I understand how exciting it can be to order a brand new TV and waiting to be sure you receive it as soon as possible. The Sony TV you have on order is absolutely incredible so I can understand your anticipation. I’d be happy to review your order and see what delivery options are available.

After reviewing your order, I do see that it reflects a backorder status. Currently the May 11th is the soonest appointment. That can change based on the availability of the TV. Customers do get notified about sooner appointments as they become available. I understand this is not ideal and will make sure to notate your request for an earlier date.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to bring it to my attention!

Sincerely,

Javier|Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate

Re: TV Preorder Delivery Date Issue

I appreciate the reply, but in other words, "tough luck, you'll probably be waiting an extra month."

I don't remember having any major issues with you guys before. This is the first time I've encountered a problem like this where I feel lied to. It's not like I'm a new member here who only just registered now to post complaints. My posts here have been mostly positive... I pre-ordered my PS4 with you guys back in 2013. No issues, and I even remember actually defending you guys at one point on here when everyone was suggesting you'd be handing consoles to walk-ins before pre-order pickups.

Best Buy, man what happened to you guys... I didn't want to believe it, but you guys really do have terrible service sometimes. I guess my luck with you guys finally ran out.
