Dishwasher Installation Debacle

I'd like to register a complaint about Best Buy and their third party appliance installation. I purchased a dishwasher online about two weeks ago, choosing Best Buy in part because they had free installation on this particular brand at the time, Bosch and I was able to get it done more than a week prior to an event we are having, giving wiggle room in case of issues.

 

I scheduled the delivery/installation for last Saturday, February 18th, for noon since I had an appointment in the morning. I was called Friday evening and told (not asked) that since they had no other deliveries in the afternoon, it would be a morning delivery, right away at 8am. She pretty much hung up on my. We rearranged I schedule to be here at 8. The guy didn't show up until after 9:00, came in with the dishwasher, and then looked at ours and said he couldn't install it. We needed an electrician and plumber out to bring everything up to code. He estimated the cost at about $325.  We agree, then waited until Monday to reschedule the installation.  We rescheduled it for Friday the 24th at noon, having to rearrange our schedule again.  Then, on Friday at about 7:50, the plumber called and told me he'd be there in about 15 minutes. I was on my way to work and told him I expected him at 12:00. He was genuinely surprised. He then asked if this was a regular install, or if there was anything he should know.  It told him about how this was a re-schedule due to these issues and an electrician would be coming out too, but I assumed at noon. He was just as surprised. My wife then rearranged her schedule so they could come over right away and install the dishwasher and remove the old one.  They had no notes or information and when they looked at it, said they weren't prepared to do it. They said we'd have to call back Monday to reschedule and that it would probably cost about $800-$1000.  

 

I called the third party installer and left a message, but they have not returned my call. I called Best Buy who read me the notes, which said they made a "Forced Delivery" on the 18th, and were billing BB for the service call on the 24th.  The man on the phone transferred me to another department which he said deals with the third party installers. I got another guy, to whom I had to repeat the entire story.  He said he'd get a hold of the company who was to install it, get me the soonest appointment possible, and call me back right away.  That was yesterday and still no call. 

 

I understand that this was a more complex install than normal, and that I'm responsible financially for these costs. I also understand it's the weekend, but my wife and I both work during the week, as do most peopole, but this has gotten ridiculous.  What I'm frustrated mostly about is that I've scheduled this installation TWICE, that BOTH TIMES they installers have rescheduled it LAST MINUTE, that my FREE installation is now going to cost $1000, and that over a week later I STILL DO NOT HAVE A WORKING DISHWASHER. 

 

Again, I bought this through Best Buy for the supposed free installation, but this is false. I also chose Best Buy because the delivery/installation time frame was quick enough for an event that we are having in our house tomorrow, so no we have a broken dishwasher in the kitchen and an new on sitting in the dining room.  Classy. 

 

I'd like to know what Best Buy is going to do to honor its side of the agreement to install this dishwasher and when they will send someone out to do it.

I just want to follow up for anyone who may read this post.  Geek Squad reached out to me due to this post.  They were very professional and courtious and we worked out a solution. The third party installer, MN Appliance and Repair, was the problem. Geek Squad and Best Buy made it right.
