X-Box Live is for the X-Box and X-Box 360 systems.
Play Station has its own type of internet connection, which it appears is called the playstation network, like you mentioned.

I think you are asking the differences between the two and which is better.
I cannot speak for the PS3 but,
THe XBOX Live System works wonderfully, they recently redid the layout and you now create an avatar (similar to the Nintendo Wii), but beyond that the menu gives you the ability to download games (free and for a cost) try out demos, and if you want you can even stream Netflix movies via Xbox Live. Gameplay on Xbox live will vary, I used it often times for NHL09 and it worked almost flawlessly, however Madden09 (another EA title) seem to have a lot of glitches in it.
I personally like Xbox over PS3 anyday of the week but I cannot say if the PS Network is good or anything like that.

You have to pay for Xbox live.

In my opinion, there is no difference. It all goes back to which platform you prefer...
Personally, I would rather pay for Xbox live. WHY? I beleive more people own an Xbox, therefore more use of the communcation applications and playing with friends online. Just my 2 cents ![]()
