I have a ps3 that is broken. I traded a xbox 360 for my friend's playstation 3. This means that I have none of the original paperwork or anything like that. Is there anything I can do? Can Geeksquad look at it, and possibly be able to fix it? Thanks again for all your help!

Geeksquad would send it off to Sony and it would cost you fortune to have it repaired. You would be better off calling Sony and see what their price is or just buy another PS3.

Hey Dan (danknapp),
Unfortunately, like Starflyer59 mentioned, you would need to contact Sony directly for repairs if you do not have any of the original paperwork. Our retail stores are only able to provide service and support for PS3 consoles that are under Product Replacement Plan (PRP) or Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection (GSBTP) coverage, and our privacy policy prohibits us from sharing transaction information with anyone other than the original purchaser.
If you think that your friend may have purchased a service plan for the PS3 though you may wish to have him/her contact us for additional information. Service plans are transferrable from owner to owner, and can generally be located using the original purchaser’s telephone number.
I hope this helps you out, but please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. You can send me a private message by clicking on the icon in my signature below.
