Re: Xbox 360 microsoft controller left analog stick ghosting issues

I was there when part search changed and that wasn't the case. You can still order things. It is still policy to order, not provide in store and I did double check to make sure it hadn't changed. In some scenarios things may be different or the store may make exceptions but according to my contacts, that is still policy. I can only speak for my areas stores of course but that's what they say policy still is.

Re: Xbox 360 microsoft controller left analog stick ghosting issues

Good day everyone,

I just went to my e-mail and saw my post was answered, this makes a lot of sence now because the pro microsoft xbox 360 controller does not have the ghost effect although classic microsoft and slim microsoft controller does have the ghost effect on those select games.

I have never heared of this policy at all, but even when I asked if something went wrong with kinect but nothing was wrong with anything in the xbox 360 slim the person told me I have to bring everything in get it fix or replace for a new one..

So if someone from best buy does not understand what I am talking about? I could just direct them here or bring the xbox 360 slim controller and have them test those select games?

Personally, if it was me, I would go in with the controller only along with a copy of your extended warranty and simply have them replace it. I spoke with a few Best Buy managers I know the other night regarding this policy and they confirmed that you are allowed one accessory exchange in the store if need be. No waiting to have one shipped out, etc. Simply bring the controller in with the warranty paperwork, explain to them the problem and that it has occured to others (there are YouTube videos of people having the same issue by the way) and perhaps grab a new Microsoft controller from the shelf. The store should not make this difficult at all.

Re: Xbox 360 microsoft controller left analog stick ghosting issues

While I have been at best buy before, I never had that experience while they made it difficult for me.. Although some just looked overwork and 1 just wasn't thinking but they fix that mistake, as long they know where they stand from working..

I use to work at care pharmacy back then and used 100% of my ability to help I even stopped what I was doing to help, although it's probably different at best buy.

So kinsella all I should do is give them a call explain little bit then come in with the controller came with it (which doesn't show the same code while on the box showed a different code so I don't know how they gonna know it's the bundle controller)

Would it be a little bit easy if I just bring in those games that gives the ghost effect from the controller so they know I am telling the truth?

I think you are only causing more work for yourself, I would just take it in with the warranty, explain to customer service and see what they do. We aren't talking a console swap, a simple controller replacement which is granted under the warranty in the store, and they should take care of you. The issue with the controller, while not wide spread IS occuring to a number of people, I know two people myself that had the same issue and there are people who have posted the videos of it online, etc. Microsoft is unlikely to admit there is an issue, but the issue does exist.

Re: Xbox 360 microsoft controller left analog stick ghosting issues

Well I just did a search using youtube (ghost effect xbox 360 bundle controllers) no results showed up.

Still my question is where is the same code for the controller that is on the xbox 360 slim box.

Microsoft still didn't admit that they gave people the red ring from select consoles using that world wide update.

Re: Xbox 360 microsoft controller left analog stick ghosting issues

Just for clarification for the op, they may not do this as the terms and conditions specify that accessory replacement may be fulfilled through the mail

Gaming Consoles: Accessory replacements are limited to one like item per Plan term and these products may be mailed to you.

Some stores may make exceptions, while others will have you either go to geeksquad and get it ordered, or call in to 1888bestbuy. A lot of stores won't be willing to lose the money as essentially they are just giving away a free product in their systems.

True to a certain degree though, you make it sound as if the store is giving away a free product when that technicaly isn't true. The stores I have spoken to in the past have told me they simply return the defective controller with the packaging from the new controller and get credit for it. The customer is given the new controller only, and since the customer paid for the extended warranty, the store benefited from that financially as well. As you stated, it is up to the store, they may simply go ahead and do the exchange in store, or they may do it through the mail, but if the intent is to keep the customer satisifed, it's better to take care of the customer on the spot letting them leave the store happy, rather than basically saying "we want to help, but we want to make you wait while the new controller comes in".

Re: Xbox 360 microsoft controller left analog stick ghosting issues

How do they even know it's the bundle controller? I was trying to find the code from the back of the controller and seem if the same code for the box match, which it doesn't..

Although I did called.

Again you making this FAR too difficult than need be. Why you are consumed with the codes is beyond me, simply take the controller in as I have stated, with a copy of your receipt, and perhaps get a controller off the shelf and see if they can swap it out there on the spot or can order you a new one. The controller that comes inside an XBOX 360 is the SAME as the standalone controller they sell for around $40-$50. Calling them won't really help, simply go into the store.
