About the only place to find a PS3 that plays PS2 games is somewhere like Eeeeebay, pawnshops or kraigslist

No. Because the ability to play PS2 games has to be hard coded into the PS3 in some manner even for the software emulation to work

Your best bet is to wait is to check the Playstation Store for classic PS1 and PS2 games being released.

You know, you can keep your PS2 (if you have one) and get a A/V splitter switch so you can switch from one hooked up system to the other with a press of a button (might need an hdmi splitter box , ive seen one as well)
