i have a problem!...my pc started out with 512mb ram...now its down to 382!..i dont know y..can someone explain why?...and how can i get it back up to 512 without buying stuff?...

I wont want to point the finger at your integrated video card, and its probably not the case, but have you tried to open up your casing and reseat your memory to see if the problem gets fixed? Otherwise you might have a bad ram chip.

Trouble is , your computer would alert you on the bios screen if there is a bad ram chip installed in your machine.

well...i havnt had any error messages...and ive already checked inside...nothing loose..

Is this a new computer you are dealing with? It sounds like its reserving some system ram for the integrated video.

no this is a pretty old pc...4 years i think...

Im not sure then, If you were to replace the ram, it would be expensive to do so in a retail store, what is the make and model of your computer?

That computer will only expand out to 2Gb and it must be done in pairs. You can add a 512MB in the empty slot and that would get you 1Gb total. Memory is pretty cheap these days. You could just add 1 stick of 512MB pPC3200 and that should help alot. I have not priced Ram lately but I know when I upgraded this machine to 4GB I paid 100.00 for a 2 GB stick of memory. Hope tat helps.
