any idea

When I plug my 12v 4pin into my motherboard, my fans spin up for on;y a few seconds then stop, and nothing else gets power. I just replced my power supply, and the fans spin when the 12v 4pin cable is not plugged in. Does this seem like the motherboard has went?

Re: any idea

What type of desktop are you working on. Depending on the form factor there are still BTX motherboards out there from dell that require a different pin out than a standard ATX PS. Then again it could be bad memory, Motherboard or processor I find it is difficult to troubleshoot anything

without sufficient information.

Re: any idea

I have a Gateway 507gr. The motherboard is listed as Intel® (Augsburg) motherboard. Prior to this it would not start up, so I replaced the power supply, and everything goes without the pin being placed, once it is placedfans go for 4 seconds and stop spinning, The light on the motherboard is still green, but was told that does not always mean that it is still ok for use.
