Re: Windows 7 taking over 20 hours to install updates.

Like I mentioned, about a year and a half ago, MS released a Dell webcam driver update that caused systems to blue screen, so it might be something similar. I'll try to look around while I'm at work tonight to see if I can find something :smileyhappy:

What's the full model number for your laptop?

Re: Windows 7 taking over 20 hours to install updates.

That's pretty similar to my ASUS :smileyhappy:

If you have time, you might try to contact Toshiba, but, as with any customer service, that can be hit/miss depending on the tech you get.

Re: Windows 7 taking over 20 hours to install updates.

Thanks! I have had no luck with Toshiba. They do not even know what a 64 bit machine is.

Microsoft wants something like $125 for one call support.

My next step is just to pack it up and bring it back to Best But, so I figured I would try this site first.

Although I think it is more of a Windows 7 issue.

Re: Windows 7 taking over 20 hours to install updates.

After much googling, I couldn't really find any mentions of the problem.... leading me to just suggest exchanging it out.

Re: Windows 7 taking over 20 hours to install updates.

There was a recent incident where applying a Microsoft update to a PC that had gotten infected with certain malware caused REALLY bad things to happen.

I forget which update, which malware, and whether it was Vista or W7 that was affected, but this could be a sign you had a malware infection.

Re: Windows 7 taking over 20 hours to install updates.

No malware, viruses, trojans, etc.

This is an issue with either Windows 7 update or some Toshiba piece of software not allowing windows to update.

Re: Windows 7 taking over 20 hours to install updates.

This is a common problem with Windows 7. Some are lucky enough it actually works after waiting all night. Most are not.

The only "solution" I have found is to do system restore which basically means you never get Windows updates and the necessary security patches.

I guess returning it to the store is my only option.

Thanks for your help.
