I know it is possible to stream media content, such as audio and video files, from your PC to your gaming console through the use of a wireless router or network switch. I understand that software programs like windows media player and tversity will facilitate this, but do not know if this is at all possible considering I do not have Xbox Live on my Xbox360. Is there any way to do this without having Xbox Live? If so, what is the best option to make sure that the content being streamed does not lag and become choppy when it is being displayed on my television?

Hey there!
This is one of my favorite features of my xbox, i use the windoes media center feature, its great! if you have a tv tuner on your computer, you can watch live tv on your xbox, pause it, rewind it, even recorde it to your computer harddrive!
it works great, and usualy with no lag what so ever.. the only problem i had was making sure both devices are on the network, my laptop likes to wander to diffrent networks, and also, you gotta set it up, just enter the code the xbox gives you, and you will be on your way!
have fun, and feel free to ask me questions,

For streaming personal content, you need nothing other than a reliable network, preferably a wired Ethernet-based one, and the appropriate media serving software on a PC, home server, or NAS. That would be software such as Zune Player, Windows Media Player, or whatever you choose to use that is compatible with the Xbox 360. For streaming content from Xbox Live such as the movies/shows that are offered through the Video Marketplace, you need an Xbox Live account and broadband as the software is already on the console. For premium streaming such as Netflix, you need a Gold account, the software that will be downloaded to your console, and a Netflix subscription. That will also apply to Hulu Plus when it hits Xbox Live next year.
