Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

Olguy from the Sony reader Forum ordered from Sony on January 12 and it already shipped.  He received a tracking number and it should be delivered today.  I'm so mad!  Here's what he said: http://sonyreader.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=22&page=2

Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

In Josh's defense he is probably waiting on someone else to get back to him.

With that being said though.....    please hurry  :smileyhappy:

Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

Thanks for your patience everyone. Hopefully will have something to share in a little bit.

I am waiting on lots of someones. Was informed that by end of the week everyone will have their PRS 900s shipped... but I am trying for specifics.

Will keep you informed as I get word, I promise.

Thanks,

Josh

Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

We keep getting pushed further and further back.

I know this isn't you fault, Josh, and I appreciate what you are doing for us, but your company has some real problems.

Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

I agree that it is very frustrating and I am anxious to have my eReader as well, but in Josh's and Best Buy's defense, it's Sony that hasn't sent the eReaders to them.  In the end it is Sony who was not properly prepared to meet the demand of their new product.  On that note, a real answer to the timeline question would be nice.  Also, my understanding is that Barnes and Noble is sending their customers a free memory card or a credit for free books for having to wait so long to get a Nook.  It would be nice if Sony or Best Buy would do the same.

Really?  Didn't know what about the Nook. I ordered one of those too for my daughter.  Are they just including the SD card or credit or do you have to hound it out of them?

Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

It is frustrating to keep having the date pushed back a little bit each time, whether it is the intent or not you can't help but feel as if you are being strung along to keep you from cancelling the order. It may or may not be Sony who is ultimately responsible but I placed my order with Best Buy and it is to them that I look to get valid information on my order.

I think some sort of shipping upgrade, store credit, or something is definitely in order.

Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

I absolutely agree. I would be happy with a shipping upgrade, and to be honest, and leaning heavily towards canceling my best buy order and placing it with a store that has them in stock.

I find it a bit suprising that with BB's buying power, they can't get these in stock, but a smaller place like B&H can.

I also feel like I am being strung along, and am not happy about it.

Re: Sony PRS-900 availability

What confuses me is...why on earth did they put it on sale when they had/have none to sell???

I ordered mine on 12/11 and then when it went on sale, I called customer service and asked them to apply the sale price to my backorder.  I was told that I would have to CANCEL my order and then reorder at the sale price to make sure I got that price.  Well, OK, seems kinda silly but I did that, even though it cost me my place in the backorder queue.  So now my new order, placed 12/27, is still on hold.

It's hard to believe that Sony is treating one of its biggest retailers this shabbily.
