Hi,
I'm looking for a new laptop and I wonder whether Samsung or Dell is more reliable laptop in term of hardware ('cause I have had troubles with HP's hardwares for all the years). I normally don't use laptop for gaming. Mostly I use it for study, watching movie and playing songs.

To be completely honest, I would rate HP as more reliable than either Dell or Samsung. I also find that ASUS hardware is very reliable. Of course, buying any brand does not guarantee reliability. There is no *best brand*; if there were, it would qucikly knock everyone else out of the market.
Just buy what is in your budget that meets your needs.
There is one caveat; avoid Sony at all costs. They make very poorly designed laptops using inferior hardware, and they are both a nightmare to service and a hightmare when it comes to dealing with their customer service.

Between the two brands you mentioned, (since you didn't include a Mac
) I would vote for Dell. My wife is an art teacher and prepares a lot of her school projects on her Dell Inspiron N4010. She also watches a lot of movies, TV shows, has iTunes on it, etc. We have had no problems with it at all. Good luck.

I know this is a rather old thread but I just felt compelled to reply....
Samsung makes almost all of their own components that they use in their laptops, they have the highest reliability rates than any other laptop manufacturer. Do a little research and you can easily find that Samsung is #1 in the world in selling laptops screens, hard drives and RAM to other companies. Dell simply outsources everything and stamps there logo on it.
There really is no comparison between Samsung and Dell, Samsung blows them away. The only other PC company I would recommend is Asus and certain HP models.
Oh and you ever see the premium line up of Samsung laptops? They look better than ANY laptop I have ever seen. I am actually about to buy one, hence why I'm researching on this site.
Hope this helps a little!

Cold hard reliability ratings. For what it's worth.

Every company can have bad items, and good items. It not really the company as much as it is the product itself.
Some Dells are terrible, some Samsung are terrible, yet both companies have computers that are very good and cost efficient.
It's all a matter of PREFERENCE.
