I've got a Dell D630 and I've installed this adapter but it won't recognize my devices. I tried installing it on my desktop and it said that the device/software failed to register and didn't work either. Tried several USB ports but no money. Please help me figure this out before I return it. Don't ask me to do something silly like reboot my computer; I'm no genius but I can hold my own in troubleshooting. OS is XP.

Did the adapter came with its own bluetooth driver? plugging the BT adapter without installing the driver can cause problems, when plugged first, BT adapter will load/use windows bluetooth driver instead of its own driver.

Well the manufacturer spec says to plug the adapter in then install the drivers. Windows did not have any bluetooth drivers to install and the manufacturer drivers wouldn't install until the adapter was plugged in.
