Question about Upgrading my video card...

So I'm new to this site so I think this is where I post this question but I apologize in advance if it isn't.

So I'm considering buying a new Lenovo thinkpad p25-s507 and I like everything about the specs except the video/graphics card. I'm not a gamer by nature or very tech savvy but I am engaged to a gamer and he's gotten me into a few games. The most extreme as far as requirements on my computer is by far WoW Cataclysm. My old computer could barely handle it so I'd like to avoid similar issues with this one. The Lenovo laptop I'm looking at has a GMA X3100 and I want to know if I could upgrade it to something better...I've heard very mixed answers about that so I wanted to make sure. Is it or isn't it upgradeable?

Re: Question about Upgrading my video card...

Graphics chipsets in laptops are not user upgradable 99% of the time. You need to look for something that has an nVidia, or ATI graphics chipset if you want to do any gaming with decent quality.

Re: Question about Upgrading my video card...

Not really, the "plug in graphics thing" would be via USB, which doesn't have the required bandwidth to supper any sort of graphics capability upgrade.

What's your budget and one of us can try to find something in your range that would work better.

Re: Question about Upgrading my video card...

I'm getting married in a year and my hubby to be is kinda ....in his words a geek and proud of it. He insists on getting me some high tech compy but I refuse to let him pay for one before hand. I use my kindle fire for most everything I need- I'd only really be playing games and typing on a laptop.

Congrats :smileyhappy:

Sadly, $200 isn't going to get you anything spectacular in the gaming/graphics department :smileysad:

Re: Question about Upgrading my video card...

Ugh, gaming on a laptop. You are a stronger person than I.

Oh, and congratulations! :smileyhappy:
