Laptop won't connect?

Hello I've had my laptop for about 9 months it's an acer aspire es 15. I've been having problems connectin to the Internet no matter what browser I use. The only Web pages I can connect to are YouTube and Google and the only time I can do that is when I turn off my fire wall on bit fender. What can I do? Do I bring it in? Could I exchange it? I just want a working laptop.

Re: Laptop won't connect?

Sorry to hear that.

Unfortunaly you cannot return a laptop after 9 months.

First suggestion would be to take it to a place where you have free wi fi access or to a friends house that has wifi and had no problems doing these things.

If it works fine somewher else then the issue either resides in your internet provider or your home source, such as the router you are connecting to.

First suggestion is to take it somewhere where other people are getting what you want and see if you can get it there as well.

Re: Laptop won't connect?

I have done this before and was unable to connect as well. I have even tried changing my I.P address or use a diffrent dns. Still no difference.

Re: Laptop won't connect?

Ok then. If it is not working in a location where someone elses computer is working then it is your settings.

go to

Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall

and select restore defaults

Delete your browser history and cookies.

Go to

Internet Options

to find internet options in the lower left part of your screen there should be a place to type things. On mine it says ask me anything

click on the security tab.   then reset all zones to default level

Go to the programs tab and click on manage add ons

Or possibly the best option is to go to the advanced tab and select Reset.  This will not alter any programs on your computer but will reset your internet explorer to a clean state.

Other things.

in Windows explorer see how much hard disk space you have free.  If it is less then 10% clear some space.  If it is less than 5% clear a lot of space.

Then run disk cleanup and disk check.
