Laptop graphics cards

I had already posted if anyone had known about any external graphics cards for gaming on my laptop and had no results.  I found some laptop graphics cards on the Best Buy website and was wondering if any of the following would work with a game like, let's say, CoD Modern Warfare 2.  And another thing, I need to know if I need to get a monitor for it, can keep using my laptop's built in screen, or if I could just hook it up to my TV.  Thanks.

Possible Laptop Graphics Cards:

  • Galaxy - NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT 1GB DDR2 PCI Express Graphics Card    Model: BB95TGE8HUFEXX | SKU: 9182859
  • PNY - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card     Model: VCG98GTEE1XPB | SKU: 8968094
  • PNY - NVIDIA GeForce XLR8 GTS 250 1GB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card     Model: VCGGTS2501X | SKU: 9262451

Re: Laptop graphics cards

Hello David--

Thank you for choosing Best Buy!

Unfortunately, none of the products you mentioned are natively compatible with notebooks.

Upgrading graphics on notebook computers is almost impossible to do without completely overhauling them. There are a few very costly third party draft products of which allow you to connect internal GPUs externally (typically via ExpressCard slots) but none of these are supported by Best Buy or Geek Squad.

If you are interested in playing these graphics-intense titles, you might want to consider upgrading your notebook.
