Here's an idea that might help solve if it's a defective panel or connector. Either you or Best Buy can connect it to an external monitor via the laptop's VGA connector. If the system runs normally without a lockup, chances are pretty good it is still a hardware issue with the laptop's panel. At least that would rule out that another system restore isn't going to fix a thing.
BTW - When connecting a monitor to a VGA connector, it's best practice to do it while both the laptop and monitor are powered off.

...One additional word of warning: accidental damage from handling (ADH) coverage does NOT include coverage for intentional misuse/abuse! True, ADH plans will cover your laptop if you spill a cup of coffee on it or the LCD screen breaks. They will not, however, cover damage caused by any of the following:
• Accidental loss
• Biological contamination
• Complete immersion in water
• Extreme environmental conditions (heat or cold)
• Insect infestation
• Neglect (such as falling off the roof of a moving vehicle, being buried by a pet, etc.)
• Unauthorized repairs or modifications
Remember that “accidental damage” is only considered to be what could reasonably occur over the course of normal use!

I didn't realize that, the plan I read (not best buy's) covered everything but loss, but I guess they just called it a replacement plan, not an ADH.
