Ipad2 software update issue

I have an Ipad2 running 5.1.1(never updated) I decided to update now. 9.2.1 is downloaded and when I press install after that I get message cannot verify not connected to the internet(which I am) I wanted to try to delete the update but it is not listed under manage storage. Anyone know what to do? I have tried EVERYTHING.

Re: Ipad2 software update issue

Hi Shae –

I’m assuming you’re trying to update over Wi-Fi. If that’s the case and you’re having connectivity issues during the update process you’ll more than likely need to update via iTunes. The iTunes update process should pre-download the new version of iOS to your computer, which will then do the updating. Let us know if you’re still having trouble.

Re: Ipad2 software update issue

If you "Google" this problem you will see it has nothing to do with connectivity and everything to do with Apple putting out a bad update. The problem is I do not own a regular computer. I only have a Dell venue pro 8 windows tablet that only has a micro usb port. Is there a way to coonect my IPAD to my Dell to do this software update on my IPAD?

Re: Ipad2 software update issue

Hi Shae –

There’s more than likely not a way to connect your Dell tablet to your iPad to force the update. If it’s an option you should be able to use a friend or family member’s computer to do the update, however you can always make a reservation with your local Geek Squad, who should be able to assist in doing the update.

Is there a charge for the Geek Squad to do this? I have no one that can help me. I am pretty much housebound.

Hi Shae –

There shouldn't be a charge for the initial consultation and evaluation of you iPad and the problem, however if it’s determined it needs to be checked-in to be worked on by us there should be an associated charge for the work done. For specific pricing you’ll need to speak to your local Geek Squad.

Re: Ipad2 software update issue

Someone just told me that I can buy an adaptor that will allow me to connect my IPAD to my Dell Windows tablet.

It is sold by Best Buy. The Insignia otg micro usb to usb type a adaptor sku4644300 model NS-MOTGD. Do you think this will work and if so are there any instructions on how to do the software update on my IPAD. I have never done it through ITUNES before and am not too familiar with computers.

Re: Ipad2 software update issue

Hi Shae –

I’m unable to say if the adapter would work, as it’s designed to allow the connection of peripherals (keyboards, mice, etc.) to Android mobile devices, not an Apple mobile devices to a Windows mobile device for the purpose of updating an operating system. That said if it does allow a connection you can find update instructions on Apple’s website HERE.
