Insignia NS-AV511 Receiver get's replicated over and over on my computer

I have Dell computer with Windows 10. I have an Insignia amplifier plugged into the HDMI output on the Dell computer.
It works great. The sound is awesome. I use youtube, Pandora, itunes, netflix. They all work and sound great.
The problem is that the amplifier keeps getting replicated on the list of playback devices. I installed this version of Windows on Dec 7, 2017.
And now I have 11 instances of the amp on my playback list and it keeps growing. I have no idea how to get rid of them.
I can "uninstall" the device in the device manager and then it won't show up there but it does up in the list of playback devices.
This issue is not the end of the world, it's just annoying. I would really like to know how to stop the HDMI device from being replicated and
how to get rid of the many versions I have already. I've checked that the driver is up to date.

Re: Insignia NS-AV511 Receiver get's replicated over and over on my computer

Hi Simonicus –

Welcome to the forums and thanks for posting! I’m glad to hear you’re happy with your Insignia Receiver, but definitely understand how having multiple instances of it show up on your laptop would be annoying.

To address this in Windows 10, I recommend right-clicking on the Windows Icon (bottom left corner of your screen) and selecting Control Panel. Then, choose “Hardware”, followed by “Sound”, where you should then see all the duplicates. Right-click on any of them and uncheck “Show Disconnected Devices”, which should hide all the duplicates. While they do still exist on your machine, they shouldn’t harm anything, and you should be set going forward. Let us know if that fixes it, or if you run into any other trouble.

Best Wishes!

What you are suggesting is what I have been doing to hide the problem. It doesn't fix the problem.  I was hoping to use this forum to find out something I didn't know already to actually fix the problem.

Hi Simonicus –

Thanks for clarifying the steps you’ve already taken to address this. Unfortunately, providing in-depth technical support is not something within the scope of these forums. We certainly have a great community of knowledgeable individuals here that may be able to provide further advice, however I recommend utilizing our Geek Squad Chat Support to speak with an Agent about this further.
