wrong specs

Before buying an item at a Bestbuy store, I always research and base my purchase from the specs of an item at Bestbuy.com. And so I did before purchasing a Dell laptop Dell Studio 17.3" Midnight Blue (Model: S1745-3691MBU --- SKU: 9539154). One of the specs posted includes 3 USB ports but I found out that there are only 2 available...Some of you might say: "There are a lot of cheap USB hubs out there."..Yeah! I know..:smileyhappy:.) Aside from that, I found out that there is only 1 firewire port instead of the 3 that they mentioned. I am so upset because I think that I was deceived (It may be a minor issue to some but to me, it is not). I am now thinking of returning it back but I am worried that they will charge me with 15% for opening it. On the other hand,  if I will not return it, do you think I can get something from the store like a discount or a gift card maybe for the wrongful information they posted? Opinions are greatly appreciated... Thanks!!!

Re: wrong specs

This would be at the managers discretion, providing you provide the store with the documentation that provides otherwise.

Re: wrong specs

I believe that when they say the 3 usb, they are including the esata/usb port, since that isn't listed separately. I don't know what was with the 3 firewire port thing. As far as returning it, it will depend on when you bought it and the 15 % restocking fee I would imagine would be waived if you are in a return policy based on the misinformation. A community connector on this site might be able to better help you and you might try posting this over in the bb customer service board so they would catch this post faster.

Re: wrong specs

When returning it, I'd definitely point out the incorrect specs, and stress that those ports were one reason you bought it.

Re: wrong specs

Looks like Dell got it right. I would always recommend checking the manufacturers website over the retailers website.

Dell Website

Externally Accessible
(2) USB 2.0 ports
(1) USB 2.0 / e-SATA combo port with Power share
HDMI connector
DisplayPort connector
VGA video connector
IEEE 1394a connector

Re: wrong specs

So technically it does have the 3 USB ports and the eSATA is a free bonus since you didn't realize you were getting it.  As for the firewire ports, how many people use 3 let alone 1 these days?

Re: wrong specs

It would also seem that the images Best Buy has of that product are also incorrect. I looked at them and found two images from the same angle that are of different but very similar looking notebooks.
