Re: slow or old laptop?

Your unit may be infected with viruses and spyware, you may have a bad hard drive or your operating system may be damaged or corrupt. A diagnostic at your local store will check all hardware and software for problems and advise you on repairs. If the repair is a great deal of money, I would suggest upgrading to a new unit. Newer games are going to require more than what they unit can offer.

The one thing you didn't mention is if you've completely wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the OS. I'd suggest doing that before doing anything else. I do it generally once a year to clean the system.

Re: slow or old laptop?

Good point but many people do not like losing all of their data or enjoy having to reinstall everything. Doing so would alleviate any software problems.

Re: slow or old laptop?

Yep...here's the trick. Get an external hard drive or even a USB drive...and copy the critical files you want to keep. Heck you can save them in the google cloud if you want. Format the PC and reinstall the OS, copy the critical files you needed back down to your PC and delete them off the cloud.
