If anyone could help me I have an HP laptop and I need a new fan but I called HP and they do not have that part available. I took it to a local computer repair place and they could not find the part either(they even checked on ebay) Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks in advance!

Ebay's basically your best/only bet.
You can just keep trying every week; get the part number from the local PC repair place and then once you find(and buy) one, have them install it for you.

The Best Buy Parts department is at 866-933-5552. Optionally, you could visit bestbuy.partsearch.com or partstore.com.
If you specify the model, I'd be glad to give you a direct link to the part (if available).

This part is not directly linked to the item at PartStore, however, I may be able to find an alternative. Please be patient while I research.

Hello sandybeach2u and Redwyv3,
Surprisingly, the fan indeed does not appear to be available at HP Parts. However, I am wondering if it could be part of one of the assemblies listed. Redwyv3, I very much appreciate your assistance! If Redwyv3 confirms that the fan is not available from Best Buy, I can check with a couple of the third parties I use.

I was unable to find the exact part number for your series, but I did find that the 480481-001 CPU fan was compatible with most of the DV7 series. However, I was not able to find it in PartStore or Best Buy inventory. I did a search for competitors, and discovered that they were all either out of stock or using a factory-direct method.
I'm sorry, I am not able to assist on this one. Perhaps the always-wonderful SoMeAm can find something.

A third-party parts depot on the Internet would be your best bet. You can get just about anything through them. I've refurbished/repaired many HP laptops through such sources since HP usually doesn't have the parts on hand.

PartStore *is* a third party depot, with over 300 different suppliers, including Andrews Electronics, etc. Just that, it's a Best Buy brand, and is affiliated with Best Buy. If it's not found through PartStore, the possibility of it existing anywhere goes down signifigantly, unfortunatly. Still, the effort should be given for a search regardless, I only spent about a half hour attempting to find competitors that might have the part. A more detailed search is might yield better results, especially now that the client has the part number.
