Thanks for the post but I have a question. Just how does Best Buy transmit the fact that they "preoptimized" the system to the customer so they know that this has happened to the particular product they are buying..special signage? I have never seen any such signage in my local BBY.

Preoptimization is supposed to be a $99 fee, but if they have no other stock besides pre opt. ones (I am not sure if they are supposed to) then they can offer the preoptimized unit at the same price as a non preoptimized one.

I have been trying to refind the site that Molly K used to get the huge on-line petition going that eventually got BOA to drop the $5 fee for debit cards. Am still looking. Will update...
