hard drive replacement

my laptop that is only a little over a year old. do I have to purchase a new operating system or can i use the restore disc that came with the laptop after installing the new hard drive?

I think you should be able to use the restore disc. It varies - some restore disks are full ones, some are partial. Are you replacing due to failure or for a capacity upgrade?

If it's a capacity upgrade, you can clone the drive.

The recovery disc will work as long as only the hard drive changed.
