Re: Windows 7

BB hasn't sold a computer with XP for about a year now, so no.

Re: Windows 7

so what you are saying is this.... after a DISASTEROUS experience with Vista we now are forced to subject ourselves to an unproven new system sight unseen?

Re: Windows 7

Yes because this isn't Vista. Also, it's not unproven... it would be nice if people did research before requesting something ridiculous like this.

Re: Windows 7

it's not a ridiculous request.

and perhaps you should reserve judgement on people you don't know... it merely showcases your ignorance

Re: Windows 7

I beta'd it and have been using it. I love it.. can't go back to XP. If I was worried about legacy issues I'd buy the upgrade to professional or ultimate fr the XP virtual machine

Re: Windows 7

I am not sure what you are reading but all the reviews i have read from well respected magazines give it a good review. Plus I have ran it on multiple machines from Beta through Release and have had very little issues with it. The only issue i have had is the fact that even using Yahoo Messenger 10 if you try to enter a chat room yahoo will crash. If you set it to compatibility mode and set for Vista SP1 the crashing goes away. I blame this on Yahoo not MS. And overall its a nice OS that is so far out performing my identical XP machine in nearly every test. But if you are dead set on wanting to go with XP go look at those computers on the manufactures website. See if they XP drivers for them. If so go to e bay and get yourself a few copies of XP. Thats the only way you are going to be able to get XP on them.

Re: Windows 7

i was a college professor in Seattle for several years... i have several former students who work at Microsoft in Redmond.... we talk....

prior to that i worked for HP's Performance Technology Division in Roseville CA so i know HP (usually) turns out good hardware...

rule of thumb, never get the first release of any OS... i totally skipped Vista...

these computers are not for me, they are for a client of mine (i now do consulting).... i want to ensure the biggest bang for their buck and i know most of their specialized software runs on WinXP (the software companies also skipped Vista).... it may be quite some time until the software is released for Win 7 and we need computers now....

we have already decided not to go with anything from Best Buy simply because a representative from the Store here has NOT answered my question...

it's not my money but i treat it like it is..... no support, no purchase
