Wi Fi

I have windows 7, Toshiba laptop, I'm trying to get wireless (WI fi) on,but every time I unplug my internet box I loose it.  I know there is something I need to turn on but I'm not to familiar with this computer stuff.  Can someone please help or point me to the right direction.

Thanks

Re: Wi Fi

Most of them it's the F8 key. It looks like a little tower with waves coming out of it.

You'll need to hit the Fn key and that key to toggle the wireless on and off. Also, some models have a physical switch on the front of the computer so check there too.

Once we've confirmed you have your wifi on we can go from there.

Re: Wi Fi

Can you please explain what you do when you "unplug your internet box" please?

Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

Re: Wi Fi

Best Buy has great deals on Geek Squad in-home installation of networking, and can get it set up right, the first time, for you.

Go troll somewhere else.

As you noticed I'm a Geek Squad Agent and while I do not represent BBY or GS on these forums I was able to help get it resolved. Were it not something simple like the wifi on the laptop being disabled an in home service call would have been likely the next step. Oh and they're quite reasonable for Home Networking Made Simple which is $89.99 and includes setup of up to 3 devices on the network and 6 months of network troubleshooting.
