What to buy?

Hey guys I just started attending CSU and I'm looking for a new laptop. I'm majoring in computer systems: web programming option and I want a computer that would be best for that major. As well as one that is easy to carry around (light weight) and has a long lasting battery. It would be also preferable if It was good with entertainment purposes for outside of school (watching movies and music). I don't want anything too expansive though (no more than 1000) and I've been using vista for a while but I am wiling to change. Any suggestions?

In my opinion, this would be a GREAT all around laptop.

The CPU isn't 'too" power hungry, and it has a very decent GPU in it for any graphics crunching you might need to do, as well as HD video.

Plenty of storage and RAM.

Re: What to buy?

Please take notice of the fact that the Laptop that RealGeorgeW has Linked to on the BestBuy.com Website. Is not actually being sold by Best Buy. Instead, it is a Market Place item that is actually being sold by BUY.Com which is an entirely different and separate company from Best Buy.

Don't let the similar names confuse you. They are actually 2 completely separate and independent companies. If you order this Laptop from BUY.Com thru the BestBuy.com Website. And then you have any type of a problem with the order, or with the product itself, don't expect any type of assistance from Best Buy. Best Buy washes their hands of the matter, and tells you that any problem is strictly between you and BUY.Com

If you buy this same Laptop directly from the BUY.Com Website, then the current price is only $900 including shipping. However, if you go thru the BestBuy.com Website to buy it from BUY.Com, then the price is higher at $937

In other words. Using the BestBuy.com site as a middleman. Only serves to increase your cost, without providing any benefit.

The only one time that I ever placed a Market Place order it was fulfilled by BUY.Com, which sent me obviously damaged merchandise, a severely dented Microwave.

In order for me to have any chance of MAYBE getting the damaged Microwave replaced. BUY.Com insisted that I would have to pay the full cost of round trip shipping for the heavy microwave. The round trip shipping cost that they insisted I must pay. Almost equaled the original cost of the Brand New Microwave. Without any assurance that they would actually replace the damaged Microwave. So I had to eat the loss, because I inadvertently did business with BUY.Com

Azn currently sells the identical Laptop for only $898 with Free Shipping. And in my own personal first hand experience. Azn provides the best customer service that I have ever encountered, by far.

Good Luck

@Bob

I read AZN as "Asian" :smileytongue: I have entirely too many Asian friends that use that abbrev.
