Re: The Acer Netbook

Sorry. I misread the title of the thread.

The only netbooks that I have personally used has been the Dell Mini 9 and a HP model. The HP was very well made and I liked it much better than the Dell.

Re: The Acer Netbook

That is false.  The user asked about netbooks (Small screen, usually an Intel Atom) such as the Aspire One - EVERY model in this category from any manufacturer is under $600, in fact with a few exceptions (Asus has now added a second netbook line with discrete graphics priced typically 200-300 above their Eee line) "premium" models tend to be $400 in this category.

I can't speak for Acer's normal laptops, but their Aspire One netbook is an excellent unit.  I have a 6-cell 160GB version (BTW, to my knowledge Best Buy only sells ones with a 3-cell battery) and it's excellent.

Also ignore anyone who tells you to go for HP - HP used to be a highly regarded brand, but between the Compaq merger and later Carly "The Hatchet" Fiorina's destructive reign over the company, HP is a mere shadow of their former selves.

For a normal laptop I would reccommend Dell, but they're newbies compared to Acer and Asus in the netbook (9-10 inch screen) market.  The Mini 9 fails to impress me.
