On things like Blackberrys, it would be difficult to reach the cap which is why they are still marketed as unlimited.
That's actually a good point. I think both AT&T and VZW market their cell phone data plans as "unlimited" but clearly mark a 5GB cap on the more expensive tethering plans. (This Sprint plan would be the equivalent of a tethering plan...)
It seems counterintuitive that the most expensive plan would have a cap and the cheaper ones wouldn't, but if you hit the 5GB cap on the "unlimited" PDA plans, good luck proving that you did it without ever tethering the device...

Or streaming internet radio.
I average 3.5gb to 4gb per month streaming XM radio all day.

I actually have the Best Buy Sprint representative working on this situation. BestBuy confesses they did not provide me with the information that I was going to be assessed data charges after 5GB, but do you think they would make some kind of ammends. NO!!!! I'm going up the corporate ladder, someone needs to be accountable and someone needs to start providing FULL DISCLOSURE

Yes maybe they should have told you but you yourself should have read the details on the data plan. Sprint makes it VERY clear that 3G data is restricted to 5gb/month and 5 cents per MB you go over.

So here is the resolution to my issue. Come to find out, I was originally onspecial corporate through my employer (for my sprint air card) - a plan which was UNLIMITED. When I purchased the Overdrive, I became limited. But since, I was never told this, my account was credited and I was set up with a new device that was compatible with the unlimited plan I previously had. It is unfortunate that the regular Sprint Customer Support reps could not see I had this special corporate plan-this would have alleviated a LOT of headaches and calls on my part. My corporate plan was only visible at a top executive level. A local Sprint rep for Best Buy escalated my problem to this executive level --thanks heavens, otherwise it would NEVER had been resolved at the local level because no one could see I had the special corporate account. (I was aware I had a discounted program, but I was unaware it was a special account)

I'm glad to see this issue has been solved for you. Those corporate plans can be tricky... I know from experience. ![]()

The way Verizon handles corporate plans (or more specifically, DOESN'T handle them) is why I've been an AT&T customer for almost three years now.
When I was a grad student, VZW added data plans without my permission THREE TIMES.
Then, when I finished school, between an income and a 25% corporate discount, I wanted to add data to my plan - doing so had to be done by our "company representative" from Verizon. Problem was my company rep was a LOCAL one that apparently couldn't touch plans belonging to someone with a different area code. So when I actually WANTED the data plan, they couldn't figure out how to add it because I had a corporate plan!
AT&T handles corporate plans MUCH better than VZW, and from the sounds of it, Sprint too.

Having a long history with Sprint (former employer), I know that their corporate plans are handled very well when they're identified correctly. What most likely happened here was a corporate specific plan code on an account that was labeled as individual. After all, the store's activation systems cannot work with accounts unless their account type is individual. Yes, there are individual sub types of corporate and business accounts. But, that just means that the individual is liable, not the company. Activations under corporate or business accounts typically must be called in through Sprint when activating in Best Buy® or any other indirect retailer.
gibetowngirl, I'm happy to see that the local Sprint rep was able to resolve the problem. That is partially why they're there in the first place.
