So... listen to this...
I am really tight when it comes to spending money, so pulling the trigger on this laptop was tough. Well, the wireless card in the laptop is not working, so I contacted Toshiba support and had a person offshore walk me through first trying to download drivers, then re-image the whole lapop. (did I mention this was a hard ware issue, NOT software) The final diagnosis was that the Wireless card in the machine was indeed a lemon and to return it to Best Buy for a replacement. Well, Best buy doesn't have a replacement with the same specs ' in the store' so my options are return it completely and start from scratch, send it to Toshiba for them to repair it, or downgrade (because paying more is not an option). I'm so frustrated because I asked the sales guy what my options were and he said that he would ask... and they came back with the idea that I could trade it for the same specs, even if the price was different. We found an HP that had the same specs plus a larger Hard Drive and brought it over to the person he had originally asked. I'm thinking... "ok... HP was my second choice, but the larger hard drive and the Hdmi port will be nice to have". This young girl then says, 'Oh, we can't mark this down that much... we can give you this open-box Sony instead... at which point, I grabbed my lemon toshiba laptop and receipt. I'll try the same process at BB in Pearland, and if they give me grief, I'll just return the whole thing and close the door on Best Buy forever. The laptop that I have is a Toshiba L505-5988. I got it on clearance for like $449. The price on the same laptop on BB .com is like $599. to add insult to injury, 3 of the laptops they had on display were not in stock nor orderable on the website and one of the other displays had keys missing from the keyboard.
Should I be bitter and do my shopping elsewhere? While I realize that this is not Best Buy's fault, I think they can make it better, rather than try and pawn off one of their returns on me as a replacement to a machine that wasn't working in the first place.
