Okay im not sure where to post this but oh well i have bought a logitech x-540 and confused how to put this on my laptop which is
G50Vt-X1 and im not sure how to plug this in to it 

so please help

The Green plug from the speakers should plug into the Headphone jack on your laptop. Your laptop most likely does not have all the connections for the subwoofer.

thanks it did help .. how can you tell if it compatible with 5.1 6.1 or 7.1

Unless you have installed an addon sound card, such as a USB or Express/PCMCIA card, you will not have anything above "stereo" out on your laptop.

I personally use two on my laptop to DJ parties with, they work amazingly well and I've never had an issue with them

Those are only Stereo output though.

The first one is also an USB device, but, if you can, I would go with the second one, as USB isn't the fastest type of connection in the world.
