Hello Best Buy
I am a network engineer and very much a computer expert in all fields of laptops and desktops. However, in choosing a laptop to best suit a close friend in another state, i had them print out and purchase an Asus laptop from your Lafayette indiana store.
The purchase went well and she brought the laptop home. Being the geek that I am, i immediately began a chat to walk her through changing all of the laptop power settings to values that I personally find much more "optimized" than anything that comes out of the box or pre configured.
However, after spending an hour going through all of these steps and saving all changes, the next time she rebooted the laptop she was greeted rudely by a message stating "Do Not Change Opbimized Power Settings, Your settings have been set back to default"
What kind of nonsense is this? Does Best buy configure the Bios to not allow these power settings to be updated? Or do you have other software installed that is doing this? Since i can not see the laptop myself, and I have not found any answers online, I figured i would come directly to you.
Being that I am very knowledgable of how to tweak laptops and computers to fit my personal preferences, i found this very unnerving in that you can not even change simple power settings.
Please let me know what i need to do to disable this "feature"

Thanks for the quick response.
I will have her check for Asus power mgmt software. I just immediately figured it would be Best Buy-ware since most times they also include their personalized applications as well .
I also found it quite odd that we were allowed to change everything and apply it, but only after a reboot did it even mention the fact you couldnt change Optimized power settings. If it is in fact Asus software, I will make sure they hear from me as well ![]()
Thanks again for your help
