I recently purchased a brand new badass Dell-Inspiron Desktop with Intel® Core™ i5 Processor-I580-5108NBC along with a new Sony-BRAVIA 32" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV-KDL32EX400. I also purchased a new 6' HDMI Cable. I setup the new dell with my old monitor - which worked fine. Upon completion, I turned off both, disconnected the old monitor, and connected the HDMI cord into the graphics card (it has a built in HDMI slot for easy setup of TVs) and connected the other end of the HDMI cord to the new Sony TV. Upon turning them both on, the TV said that it was unable to connect. I know it sees something there because the other HDMI inputs say no signal. But, on the HDMI input with the computer it just says unable to connect. What is the problem?? It is driving me crazy and I want to use my new 32" TV as a badass monitor!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Eric

You have to select PC input for the HDMI port through your TV configuration and you also need to be sure your graphics card is outputting an HDTV signal.

How do I make sure my graphics card is outputting an HDTV Signal? Does it not automatically select it?

Normally, it should do it automatically. Sometimes it doesn't. It depends on the digital handshake. You'll also need to set the sound to something that the TV can decode if it's not already set up that way. If you look in the specs at the end of your TV manual, it will list the information for the audio portion of the signal and the video signal information is on page 46.
