Hi,
My Dell computer was purchased from Best Buy on 9/28/08 it was given to me recently as a gift. My computer has no sound and I've checked out the computer thoroughly making sure nothing was muted . My speakers appear to be working according to my computer I just don't have sound!? I'm no computer expert but I think it may be a sound card issue. So my questions are. Is my computer still under warranty? Do I take my computer back to Best Buy or do I send it to the manufacturer for repair? If my computer was a gift is it still covered? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to get as much info as I can before I call best Buy..
Thank you!

Hi there and welcome to the Community!
First off, I would take it to your local store and see the Geek Squad. They can check out the machine and determine if it is a software or hardware issue. If the unit was purchased less than a year ago from Best Buy, Dell should cover the hardware issue assuming the unit has not been damaged in some way.

Windows Vista might have the wrong playback device selected, right click on the speaker icon and select "Playback devices" and choose the right one.
