I recently purchased a new computer, which I love. The one issue seems to be with the sound quality when I talk over a voice chat program. Sometimes I sound fine, other times I sound really crackly. The sound quality for me listening to other people, music, etc. is fine.
I know it isn't the headset, since this has happened with more than one. Both are the type where you plug one piece into the mic jack and another into the headphone jack.
My question is - is it likely that the jack is somehow bad and I could get around this using a USB headset, or is it possible that the problem is an internal issue with my computer? I would hate to buy yet another headset and have the problem persist, so any advice is appreciated.

Hey Celticmyss,
I had the same problem before with my headphones. I am fairly sure that we both are using a similar chat program and playing a similar game
so the conditions are most likely the same. I switched to a USB headset and it fixed the issue I was having so it might work for you also! The good thing is that I went ahead and purchased my headset at my local Best Buy® store and I had the peace of mind that if it did not work, I had thirty days to return or exchange it with no penalty! Luckily it worked and my guild mates breathed a sigh of relief. They were the ones who suffered the most from my crackly mic after all!
Hope this helps!
