Okay, I recently purchased an HP the model number is e9220y

You can do it but you might want to consider a better card. Neither one of those are "gamer" cards. They are multimedia entertainment graphics cards that aren't really much better than what you already have. They don't have the muscle to make the latest games very pretty but they will do anything else you ask of them for the most part. I would go with a 5-series Radeon if you can fit it into your budget. Be mindful of cooling and case ventilation when picking out an upgrade for graphics as HP does not design their systems to be radically upgraded with more advanced graphics cards.

Assuming you can mount the motherboard in that case, yes, but that would take a bit of your time and given that you don't seem to know much about computers, it would be a difficult task. I would suggest simply using what you have, upgrading the graphics card and power supply, and increasing the cooling by using a VGA card cooler mounted above the graphics card. That will suck the exhausted hot air from the card and shoot it out of the case. I did that with my HP and it works fine. I've got a 1GB GTS 250 in this machine I'm using right now.
