I need both a new tower and modern TV.

It's time to replace both my tower and old style TV. I never bought one of those converter boxes. I want to be able

to watch Videos of a 32 inch, or bigger, screen (this is something I would need to buy) and use the 20 inch monitor

I recently bought, for regular computer stuff.....letters, spead sheets etc.

I have a Internet access. I watch U Tube videos and stuff like that. I could join Netfixs and watch videos from that too.

I want to be able to watch video on the bigger screen and switch back to the smaller screen. Any ideas on the best

way to do this?

In other words, what do I need to buy in a tower and flat screen TV, to be able to switch back and forth, depending on

what I'm doing.

Many yrs ago, I used an A/B switch for something simular to this. But, I no longer use that type of cable. My current modem

uses Cat 5 UTP. Then of course, a cable with a VGA end goes to the monitor.

Re: I need both a new tower and modern TV.

If you get a tower capable of outputting to VGA or DVI and also HDMI it would be the easiest for you.

If we don't have any off the shelf towers which do that the store can help you find a add-in grafics card which can do that.

Then you'd run the VGA/DVI to your current 20 inch monitor and run an HDMI cable to the TV. Set windows up to mirror the desktop on the TV and then when you want to watch online videos or netflix you can just put the TV on the HDMI input the computer is connected to.

You could also look into a device like a Roku which might also give you the TV functionality you're looking for.

Although I am employed by Geek Squad my opinions do not in any way shape or form represent Best Buy's Official stance on matters. My opinions are solely my own.

Many desktops and laptops come with HDMI outputs.  That would be the easiest solution...make sure your desktop comes with an HDMI out,  I have an HP Elite series that has HDMI out.
