Help with Dell Studio 17

Hi, I have a Studio 1737 and am having trouble when using a 3d modeling program (Sketchup).  Seems I have to turn off the hardware acceleration in the program for it to work properly, but then it runs real slow.  It runs slower than I expect when I have a large model...is there an upgrade to the video card or a new video card that I can install to boost performance?

Also I've had the blue screen after installing updates, I read about updating the webcam driver and did that but too early to tell if that fixed the problem yet.

I would like for this post to help all users of Studio 17, so feel free to reply about any issues/fixes regarding this paricular laptop.

Thanks!

Re: Help with Dell Studio 17

Welcome Marty17!

I would suggest taking a look at support.dell.com.  Click on Drivers & Downloads.  The best way to find your specific computer setup is to use your Service Tag, located on the bottom of your computer.  Make sure you have Windows Vista 64-bit selected as your operating system.  Locate the appropriate drivers under Video.  Remember you have to choose the specific driver depending on what you have in your computer.

Also, you might be able to find an answer at Sketchup's help site.  It is located here.

For most users, the specific webcam issue you mentioned is fixed by updating the driver.  So, hopefully you don't need to worry about that any longer.

Thanks for posting.
