Help connecting internal HD to new computer

I just bought a Dell-Inspiron Desktop - 4GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive-I620-2116BK and would like to connect my old internal hard drive and use it as a dual boot system. When I looked inside the cpu the connections are different.

My old drive is a Seagate Model St340810A SATA drive from a Compaq.

Thanks for any opinions.

Re: Help connecting internal HD to new computer

The drive you have is not a SATA drive, so it will not connect to your new desktop. You cannot use it for anything without an IDE storage controller card, though you can pull files off it with an external adapter or use it as external storage if you can find an enclosure with the old IDE interface.

Re: Help connecting internal HD to new computer

Thanks for your help. I sure do appreciate it. I'll look into the possibility of using it as an external drive.
