Help choosing power supply for HP Pavilion a6257c

I'd like to upgrade my power supply to a 450 or 500 but I can't seem to find which powersupply, if any, will work in my machine - HP Pavilion a6257c.

My goal is to upgrade to a nice dual monitor graphics card.

Thanks

Re: Help choosing power supply for HP Pavilion a6257c

Greetings WayFatWhitey

That computer appears to take a regular sized power supply.

Any of these > http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Computer-Cases-Components/Power-Supplies/abcat0507009.c?id=abcat0507009 will work fine in it, but I'd personally recommend one of the Corsair models.

If you take it into local Geek Squad precinct, they can install if for you for ~$49.99.

If you give me a price limit for both upgrades(power supply and graphics card) I can give you specific recommdations on both.

Re: Help choosing power supply for HP Pavilion a6257c

Price isn't an issue.  I have the system maxed out at 4gb ram.  Want a good graphics card for dual monitors.  A card that is good but not so good that the rest of the system is too outdated to allow the card to maximize its use.  Then whatever powersupply will support that card.

I have seen some of the $300+ cards but it doesn't look like my system would allow them to reach their potential.

Really appreciate the help.

LOL Yeah, I have one of the $300+ cards. I love it, but my system was built for it.

That's a nice midrange card, not too pricey, but not too bad. That has DVI/VGA.

For the price, that's really not a bad option for dual DVI. It wouldn't do much for gaming, though.

That should be powerful enough for your needs.

What 1gb card would you suggest? (and what powersupply will it need)

Definitely want to be able to do some gaming with this machine.

Thanks!

Just to cover the bases that should be plenty.
