My laptop speakers have static in them.  It's been having static for about a day.  It is very old laptop.  Is this a problem I fix myself, or should I take it in for repair.

Something like that happened to me once.... something fell through the grill.  It just vibrated when the anything was played.  A vacuum cleaner did the job.

You might just want to get some external speakers.  They may sound better anyways with a subwoofer and/or surround sound.

Age of the laptop could really be a factor, but as the person who replied to you said there may be something in there that virbrates on the speakers and causes that.

You can't fix it. Just use external speakers.
