Hi folks,
We purchased this computer in late January/early February. Over the course of the last week, or so, it has been grinding and giving me a blue screen with various error messages (can't remember them off the top of my head). The final message is that it is performing a crash dump. Sometimes the laptop works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it will go through the blue screen/crash dump cycle five or six times before the laptop works. I'm currently on it without a problem.
My question: Is this a hard drive problem? How easy is it to install a new hard drive, or is this something I should take to Geek Squad and let them look at?
Thanks.

If there is a "grinding" noise, then it is highly likely that it is a hard drive problem.
You should immediately back up any critical data or files that you have on yor laptop. If it is the drive, it could fail at any time.
If you take your laptop to BB Geeks, they will perform a series of tests to determine the extent of the problem(s) with your laptop. Sometimes issues like these are related to the motherboard.
Since your unit is under manufacturer warranty, you can have HP repair it at no charge to you,
