Well, its the full price you paid minus any other services like Geek Squad protection policies etc.
Or was it the fair market value determined at the time. Im not very good at reccomending technology for gamers... more reccomended for the casual gamer or the basic small business / office

You'll get the purchase price of a comparable laptop determined by the store.
I'd go with the Gateway FX P7805 if you get enough back.

Well, it's the highest-end laptop that BB carries, so if it can't, you're SOL.
If your current laptop can, then this one definitely can.

Hello qsd7560, Welcome!
I was impressed with last week's Forum Find for 2009-March-26. Technically the Gateway FX has faster RAM, otherwise they are fairly comparable.
As for your other question: most newer computers with dedicated graphics chip should handle a majority of thosegames. You will receive the value of comparable technology without going over the original price for the product (notincluding services or service plans, accessories, etc.). The store will help you determine "comparable technology." Your laptop had the following statistics:
Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor T5450; 2GB DDR2 SDRAM; DL DVD±RW/CD-RW drive; Labelflash technology; 17" widescreen; 240GB hard drive capacity; fingerprint reader; Bluetooth; built-in Web cam; Windows Vista Home Premium
Basically the store will determine which in-stock model meets these qualifications - it need not be brand-specific (primarily matching screen size, processor, RAM, and HDD size); credit is for the value of this comparable technology and thus you are responsible for paying the difference for an upgrade but we do not refund any difference if lower than original unit's price. The store is not required to give you a gift card if they have a laptop with comparable technology in stock. Technology is constantly advancing and your model is now towards the lower end of the spectrum for new computers. I want you to be aware of this to help avoid sticker shock. Please appreciate I cannot give you specificprice range because this decision is circumstantial based on several variables at the time you go to the store - once approved for replacement. I strongly recommend going to the store for assistance right away if you have been authorized for an exchange (there is a time limit on replacement). If the laptop is being replaced outside of manufacturer's warranty period then the service plan isconsidered satisfied and you may want to think about getting a new Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection on the newlaptop.
Send me another private message if you require further clarification or assistance with your store experience.
EDIT: Remember, in order to qualify for replacement under the "No Lemon" portion of your Performance Service Plan there must be at least three separate non-redo service orders each with qualifying hardware part repair/replacement instances. Verification that your unit meets these requirements is completed at the service center, not in the store. ***Please check your Private Messages for updated information.
