Re: G71gx-RX05 Where did it go?

Adam, please tell me that this is NOT the new line of gaming laptops

9/24/09 - "Introducing the New ASUS G60J for Gaming Enthusiasts and M60J for Multimedia Aficionados"

They're so inferior to the discontinued G71Gx-rx05 I was going to buy =(  They went from 6GB ram to 4GB? Not cool.

Re: G71gx-RX05 Where did it go?

It looks like it's a 15.6" unit, so more likely slated to replace the G51 series, or be a complement to it. (CPU is an upgrade, GPU is a downgrade from the G51 series.)

We won't honestly know what Best Buy will carry until it arrives on the distribution trucks.

Re: G71gx-RX05 Where did it go?

Looks weird, but its actually cool in some way, but instead of putting i7 they could make SLI GPU, i really liked RX05 Design with back and front blue lights Touch media controls...blah blah.

Re: G71gx-RX05 Where did it go?

It will be interesting to see how the Core i7 works in this laptop.

Re: G71gx-RX05 Where did it go?

Especially ''Turbo mode''

Thing I noticed in G60J

-Intel Core i7 instead of Core 2 duo
-4GB ram instead of 6GB
-No side lights on the cover
-Cover picture changed from Black to some...painting
-Cd/DVD burner moved to right side
-USB ports also disappear from right side
-LCD Resolution is even lower than in Rx05

And rest of it is same as Rx05

Re: G71gx-RX05 Where did it go?

yeah... Way to go Asus.  "Let's discontinue an incredibly popular laptop without notice and replace it with a model that has 2 less GB of ram, a quad processor with GHz (so when you're running programs not programmed for quads it's slower), and less screen resolution, that's probably going to cost more! Let's also NOT improve the graphics card, but instead downgrade it in some models"  woot for technological improvements...

6GB of ram in a laptop for under $2000 was like 90% of the reason i WAS GOING TO buy the g71gx-rx05...
