Re: Free upgrade to Windows 7 with qualifying computer purchase

I purchased the Sony Vaio in July and was told Windows 7 is a simple upgrade. I received the disk and followed the instructions to install the service and the service pack update.

Now my bluetooth and  Blu-Ray are not working. What can I do to get these working again. I purchased a protection plan and the recovery disks since they did not come with my $1000 laptop. Who should I contact to get these working? Microsoft. Sony, or Best Buy?

Re: Free upgrade to Windows 7 with qualifying computer purchase

Bought my Dell Laptop in August.  Best Buy associate didn't think Windows 7 would be available until early Spring but said it would be free with the this purchase.  When they became available I would receive an upgrade CD or would pick one up at Best Buy.

I started overhearing people who had upgraded to Windows 7 already, so I went to Best Buy site regarding this upgrade and had to click on the Dell link.  The window opens and what do I see on this day, February 3, 2010.....   THIS !

Re: Free upgrade to Windows 7 with qualifying computer purchase

Sorry to hear about your situation Barracudabros. Windows 7 became available on October 22, 2009. Sadly the option to use your free upgrade expired on January 31, 2010. Some PC manufacturers extended the deadline past that date but Dell was not one of them. Your only recourse now is to see if Best Buys Geek Squad will still do the upgrade they were offering in store for I think it was 40 dollars. Or you will have to purchase a Windows 7 Upgrade for Home Premium 120, Professional 200, or Ultimate for 220. Please note the prices i just gave are for the upgrades not the full versions which cost more.
